What None Geek/Nerd Tech solutions is:
I'm not a geek, I use computers and they ALWAYS go wrong, so I, like everyone else, am forced to go in search of SOLUTIONS. But all I find are generic solutions provided by tech wannabees who obviously cut and paste solutions from people who THINK they KNOW SOMETHING. Invariably they don't. So, I decided to write this blog about the problems I find with my computer and the solutions I hit upon by trial and error.
For example. I bought a Lenovo laptop, it's cool, I like it, but since day 1 problems have cropped up, not Lenovo's fault, they provide the hardware; problems arise from the software, conflicts, update issues, installation failures, the long nightmare list.
Issue 1.
NO SOUND ON TWITTER.
One day I had sound on twitter videos, the next I didn't. What caused this? I have no idea. I went online, I found the usual … go into HKEY registry, muck around, ruin everything, I hope this helps and, well, surprise, surprise, no, actually it didn't.
My solution:
I right clicked on taskbar at the bottom
I clicked on the hidden icons arrow
I clicked on the speaker icon
There were two settings:
Realtek
AMD high definition (this one was selected)
I selected Realtek and now I have sound on twitter! - but, uh-oh, I no longer have sound with Cortana!
I'll listen to Mark Knopfler after having spent endless fruitless hours searching for a SOLUTION online only to find my own.
Heaven.
Next I might deal with Cortana.
Hope this helps.
